S.g. Herr Johannes,
Smiley

in the apple menu you find a short introduction to the main features of the software, general info is avaliable at http://os9.kairon.org
in short Kairon 2.19 is an astrology calculation tool with no atlas data inside and it can be used for the student or practitioner of astrology... there is no text mode in Kairon 2.19
best wishes,
Kilian

Yes, you are right in both cases: The solar option does solar charts, and you have been doing someting wrong as well.
Please, follow the descriptions that are in the short tutorial, you get that from the apple menu. There it has a few hints about every feature and with those hints you will quickly find your way through.
Wherever you are getting wrong results with Kairon, it is an input error Smiley (I dare say so after so many years) To prevent errors with solars etc.: first enter the year, then click on what you want to do with that year. In general: never try the same way twice if it doesn't work out the way you thought it should. Only humans are abke to change their behaviour... computers are only welcome as long as they don't.
Cool

Hi Lori,
probably you are using a laser printer that has font substitution on. in the printer settings you will find a checkbox that sounds like "prefer usage of printer's own fonts". this has to be off, otherwise the printer will use its intelligence to tell you that its own fonts are much nicer than those installed on your system and it will use its own ones in such cases.
Kairon 3 can be used and tested for 30 launches with no restrictions, so if you do not quit it until you shut down your mac it can work for an almost unlimited time - if you do charts just occasionally - and even if daily, it will work for an entire month and give enough room for thorough testing. After the end of a testing period i might well be open for non public, reasonable requests, who knows...

Embarassed
there is no fault with your reading, the aspect search implemented is aimed at time, not people, i.e. you can ask for certain aspects related to the present active chart taking place over a period of time.
Your feature is a great suggestion though, and i will definitely implement it with the first feature upgrade.
Thank you for your great promotion offer!!!  Cool

 7   Other / General Board / Re: Kairon for Mac OS X  Jun 11th, 2004, 10:41am

re Hallo!

b) Ein uneingeschränktes all new Kairon mit einer Vielzahl neuer Features:
    • Klassische Planeten
    • Standard Asteroiden
    • Witte's Uranier
    • 9 Musen
    • 9 Göttinen
    • 10 Kentauren
    • mehr als 200 Arabische Punkte
    • alle verfügbaren Asteroiden
  • Multiple Windows
  • AAF Datenbank Dokumente (=multiple chart files... jedes Dokument beinhaltet so viele Horoskope wie man wünscht)
  • speichern als .pdf, .eps, .tif, .aaf, .txt, .rtf
  • Progressionen
  • Eclipsen finder
  • Aspekt finder
  • freie Schriftauswahl für astrologische Symbole
  • glatte, klare Quartz Bildschirmdarstellung

So, falls noch nicht erledigt, go Panther and rejoyce!

8   Astrology / Stars, Planets, Asteroids, sensitive Points... / Re: sensitive points (viz. Douval)  Jan 31st, 2004, 5:52pm

hi everybody - a very nice approach to the sensitive points can be found in the liturature of the german esoteric astrologer Karl Brandler Bracht. In his firs astr. book. "die astrologische technik" from 1937 he desscribes how to calculate about 15 essencial points like (father, mother, death, okkultismus, fortune, astrologie and so on...) and shortly explain them.
His second one "Synthese (entwicklung der log. kombination)" and his third one "astrologische prognose" explain how to use this points.
I dont know if these books exist in english and the first two ones are only to get in antiquariat. the third one is still published and available in book shops.  Wink

Hi, Kili:
What to do with the Archive.sea file seemed obvious, but I didn't want to try anything without confirmation.  I've moved all those files into Kairon's Ephemerides folder.
No luck with the Astrolog files import, though.  I saved the data as Simple Text and then tried to open it with Kairon's "Import as" but got the message "Not a Valid Astrolog 5.30+ Document!"  Anyway, it's not important because I just downloaded both programs and have no backlog of Astrolog files.  As far as I can see Kairon produces chart calculations identical both to Astrolog's and to my old produced-by-hand-with-paper-files chart so there's no issue of getting superior data.
It would be nice if Kairon calculated Declinations, though. Have you decided not to produce an upgraded shareware version?  Kairon is amazingly complete for a freeware program but I'm sure I and others would pay a reasonable price for a version with enhanced features.  Who needs Io?
